Scientific Works

Donbass State Technical University is the leading institution in Donbass region. Our university was founded on October 12, 1957.

Don STU – educational establishment of the highest category, accredited to IV level, provides training of highly qualified specialists in the fields mining engineering, metallurgy, electrical mechanics, automation, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, economics, management.

Along with solving the main task of personnel training for the most important branches of economy DonSTU is carrying out different theoretical and applied research works.

The number of structural units of the university includes scientific-research department, scientific research design institute “Parameter”, State inter-institutional center “ORION” (Alchevsk station of Ukrainian network of laser-location stations, on which the permanent GPS-station being integrated in the world co-ordinates system WGS-84 was created).

Their main tasks are realization of wide range of investigations on the number of specific research fields e.g. developing of machines and technology on coal extraction and its complex processing; cutting and supporting of mine working; reduction of dust air level at working places and reduction of atmospheric dust emission; use of recycled resources in agglomerate production, improving the technology of cast, Steel and rolling production; development of highly effective systems for cleaning the lubricated materials and liquids from wastes and admixtures; development the devices for repair of conveyor belts, flexible cables, for drying of bulk materials on the base of induction heating; development of energy-saving control systems for electrical drives; development of ecologically pure methods of waste utilization in rubber mechanical industry with following producing of thermal power.

The wide range of researches on actual trends in mining physics and geomechanics of rocks and rock massifs has become the basis for foundation the Alchevsk branch of the Institute of Physics of Mine Processes of National Academy of Science of Ukraine on the base of DonSTU and development of joint research programs..

Since early 2001 the mining archeology is developed in the university as new research line both for university and national archeology in the whole. The research objects are ancient mine excavations, technogenous production sites for copper-ore materials and settlements of the Bronze Age. This memorial complex has got the name of Kartamysh archeological micro district. As the consequence of this is creation of Donbass department of East-Ukrainian branch of Institute of Archeology of Ukraine’s Academy of Science.
